Case Study – Client’s problems are our responsibilities.
Our client proposed a new project needing a cable constituted by USB+Mini Din. The additional requirement is it has to maintain its functionality after 30,000 360°rotation tests.
We replied that the specification has to be changed to meet this requirement. After customer's approval, our engineers modified the structure and materials, and then provided three specifications and prices.
Three specifications were: Sample1: 3/23/0.05TS twisted and cabling; Sample2: 3/23/0.05TS; Sample3: 7/10/0.05TS with PVC 80p jacket.
After receiving new specifications, client asked us to provide semi-manufactured samples to allow tests by both sides. During the process of testing, the client asked us to increase the number of rotation test.
Before this requirement, all semi-manufactured samples passed the test of 30,000 times. However, Sample1 lost signal at 36,000 times, both Sample2 and Sample 3 passed the test to above 60,000 times. Eventually, the number of test rose to 80,000.
The client also got a similar outcome of their tests which was between 60,000 and 80,000. Consequently, client agreed to use these two cables to undertake the price comparison. Now, both of them were used in the premium version and bargain version of the client's products.
